PRESS RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX – October 5, 2012. – Texas e-Sports Association (TeSPA) announced today the official creation of a statewide network and the official induction of 8 collegiate branches. TeSPA is excited to welcome the following universities as official university chapters.
- Rice University
- Texas Tech University
- University of Houston
- University of North Texas
- University of Texas at Arlington
- University of Texas at Austin
- University of Texas at Dallas
- University of Texas at San Antonio
A statewide organization has been formed to facilitate growth at each of these local chapters. The statewide board of directors aims to accelerate growth by sharing resources and knowledge, and when possible providing technical, promotional, and sponsor support for local e-sports events.
“We hope to share what we’ve learned in Austin to build a strong network of capable e-sports communities around the state,” said founder and co-president Adam Rosen. “Each TeSPA branch will operate independently, but will be able to utilize a network of passionate regional leaders to share their experience, work together, and excel.”
Alongside this news, TeSPA announced the launch of its new website: TeSPA.org. This website will serve to connect local communities and provide a centralized location where Texas residents can find information about all things e-sports in their local areas.
“I believe very strongly that the future of e-sports is in the collegiate scene. TeSPA should be a model that all regions across the world look to,” said Lawrence Vanderpool, President of the newly formed University of North Texas chapter. “UNT is excited to be a part of this growth!”
