Through our joint Fall Kickoff program, we showered chapters with high-end Gunnar performance eyewear and a brand new kit of promotional materials to promote their developing gaming communities on campus. In no time, over 70 chapters from across North America hit the university quads to show off their epic plans for the year and kick off their strongest semester yet with epic gaming events. The results speak for themselves: chapters have celebrated the most exciting events the collegiate gamingspace has ever seen, and have beenreporting record growth rates! After sorting through a plethora of local submissions, TeSPA is very proud to
showcase a range of events that demonstrate the creative ways our chapters used their kickoff packages to start their year!

Website Level Up! http://tespa.org/blog/2014/12/18/websitelevelup/ http://tespa.org/blog/2014/12/18/websitelevelup/#comments Thu, 18 Dec 2014 19:00:31 +0000 http://tespa.org/?p=6645 We are excited to release a brand new way to customize your chapter website. Compared to the traditional theme, the new WordPress theme is easier to set up, simpler to maintain, and can be quickly customized to match your school colors with practically no web programming experience. It only takes about 15 minutes to set up your site with the new theme and increase your ability to attract nearby gamers to your chapter’s activities, social media, and photo galleries.

Here is a snapshot of the new layout:

We know that the leaders of our chapters may not always have time to delve into their website’s code and teach themselves how to make their site stand out among other student groups on campus. That’s why the new theme is as simple as copy and pasting your content. Other features added include:

  • The Ability to Customize your Website’s Colors and Font
  • A “Call to Action” or Upcoming Event Header for Announcements and Events
  • Posts can be a Photo, Link, Article, or Quote
  • Simple Social Media Integration
  • Pinned Posts

All of which can be seen in the real-time web page editor!

Ready to showcase your awesome members, fun-filled tournament brackets, and upcoming events with the new theme? Login to your chapter website and follow the steps below to have your existing content transferred to this sleek and clean theme.

Blizzcon 2014 Collegiate Meet & Greet http://tespa.org/blog/2014/11/24/blizzcon2014/ http://tespa.org/blog/2014/11/24/blizzcon2014/#comments Tue, 25 Nov 2014 04:02:36 +0000 http://tespa.org/?p=6637 splashImagine the frenzied buzz of conversation as crowds of the top college influencers discuss plans for global eSports domination – or at least campus domination. Every once in awhile near big gaming conventions, TeSPA holds a get together for both current chapters and neighboring collegiate communities. With plenty of food, a few drinks, and great company – it is the perfect atmosphere to talk eSports.

rudyOn November 6th, TeSPA held its first Collegiate Meet and Greet at Blizzcon 2014 at Hilton Anaheim in California. For most attendees, it was their first time seeing other TeSPA chapters or collegiate meetup. For others like California State University at Long Beach’s Rudy Delgado it was “an opportunity to clear up informalities and doubts the club or myself may have had about TeSPA.” Along with two other leaders at CSULB, Delgato spoke with TeSPA and other attending chapters.

“I like to build relationships with the things I involve myself with,” said Delgado. “I saw it as another opportunity to network and get to know the personality of the staff.” During this particular event, current TeSPA chapters (University of California at Irvine, University of Texas, University of California at Santa Cruz, University of California at San Diego, University of Nevada, Orange Coast College, and Montana State University to name a few) along with attendees were free to join others in games of BANG!:Heroes of the Storm or Cards Against Humanity. Particularly lucky-feeling gamers could also try to complete a quest to win Blizzard Developers-signed Heroes of the Storm posters and mechanical keyboards. We had a blast creating these quest cards and fully anticipate doing just as awesome activities for future meetups.

Past meetups have been held at PAX Prime, Pax East, and MLG Anaheim but we’re all ears for suggested future meetups! Visit the TeSPA facebook page and @TeamTeSPA to contact us or find out when our next meetup is!
